Biden says that conviction of ex-policeman for the death of George Floyd is ‘step forward’

American President and Kamala Harris pressured senators to pass federal law against police violence that bears the name of Floyd

The guilt verdict will not bring George back, ”said Biden in a statement at the White House Oval Office. - But this could be the time for a significant change, a giant step in the march towards justice in the USA.

A 12-member popular jury found Chauvin, 45, guilty of all three counts of murder after three weeks of jubilation, in which dozens of witnesses claimed that Chauvin used disproportionate force in immobilizing Floyd, with his knee on his neck for nine minutes, on May 25 last year.

"It was a murder in broad daylight and it took off sales for the whole world to see," said Biden, who also called for unity the nation. - Systemic racism is a stain on the nation's soul.

Chauvin, who chose not to testify and pleaded not guilty, was found guilty of second-degree and third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter. In the first, what was considered is that Chauvin unintentionally caused Floyd's death while committing another crime, aggression. In the second, that the ex-cop killed Floyd by taking a dangerous step and that he put his life at risk. In the latter, that Chauvin, being reckless, took the risk of killing Floyd.

Vice President Kamala Harris also made comments, urging the US Senate to pass the “George Floyd Law on Policing Justice”, which was passed by the Democratic House of Representatives, and aims to prevent aggressive law enforcement tactics that target blacks and other minorities.
